Following Matt West’s recent efforts, it seems the Saints have come out to bat.
With a previous high score of 16, juniors father Brendan Anderson turned his luck around hitting out 103 and into forced retirement in the One Day side against Strathmore Heights last week.
With the team batting first and struggling at 3/13, it was Denis Ryan who came out all guns blazing to lift the run rate with his 38 (four 4s, 3 sixes) before being clean bowled with an extremely slow full toss. It was Mick McCarthy holding up the other end for Denis that kept the momentum going with 68 (11 fours) while Brendon was settling into the crease. Brendon went on hitting the boundary 19 times including 3 massive sixes, taking the team to a score of /6242 off 35 overs.
But that wasn’t the end of it. Brendan went on to take 3/3/3 with the ball, while Mick took 4 catches in cover and Denis 3 catches keeping. The Saints went on to route the hapless opposition for 85. The One Day scorecard can be found here.
B grade were also in need of a saviour at 8/102 when Alf Micallef decided it was his turn, making 91 not out. But unfortunately not Tom Murdoch’s who just couldn’t keep up with Alf.
It was Stephen ‘Wally’ Wallace who held the other end for his 54 not out in their 110 unbroken last wicket partnership. It wasn’t their running between wickets that most impressed though. Wally found the boundary 7 times, while Alf hit a six as well as another dozen fours. They batted out the 80 overs finishing with 254.The B grade scorecard can be found here.
