Earlier this year we undertook a survey of players and supporters on their views of the club, what we were doing great and what we could improve.
The new Committee met this week to consider the results of the survey and have committed to the following ideas.
Activities to continue:
- Juniors programs. As identified by a parent throughout these results, the Juniors programs were amazing last year and contributed to the success of club events and financials.
- Successful events including the Xmas Party, Ladies Day, Sainthood Day, Past Players Day, Sponsors Day and Trivia Night.
- Keeping players and supporters around on Thursday nights for a meal and team announcements.
- The great work by canteen and afternoon tea coordinators.
- The great work by the bar volunteers.
- Reasonable membership and match fees. Ensure these fees will cover all standardised club expenses (Council and association fees, insurance, etc.).
- Consistent communication across the website, email and Facebook group.
- Promote the club as an eclectic and diverse group within the community.
Areas to improve
Playing
- Recruit a professional Coach to inspire and support the club’s senior and emerging payers, and possibly the Chairman of Selectors role.
- Recruit new players to fill senior ranks who fit the club’s personality.
- Designate A and B Grade teams as competitive teams for senior and emerging players, and other teams for social players (with some movement between as required).
- During preseason identify players who want to play competitively and those who want to play socially.
- Recruit past or current players as batting and bowling coaches for social players.
- The Coach should establish a fitness routine for senior and emerging players to be undertaken at each training session, which is optional for social players.
- Ensure Captains of social teams provide opportunities to bat and bowl for all players.
Equipment and facilities
- Ensure adequate quantity and quality of training balls.
- Put together a designated club kit for social players using existing equipment and purchasing any required equipment.
- Consider options to improve the wet weather protection of the turf pitches.
- Prioritise new training equipment, such as a ball machine, sidearms, a speed gun, batting and fielding aids, as the next small project for the club (in consultation with Coach).
- Prioritise new cricket nets as the next big project for the club.
Sponsors
- Appoint responsibility for sponsorship to one member to develop a sponsorship plan, coordinate current sponsors with current contacts and seek out new financial and in-kind sponsors.
- Arrange occasional Thursday and Saturday night meals with sponsors.
Committee
- Establish a better process for the election and handover of Office Bearers and Committee members at the AGM, in line with the Constitution.
- Encourage AGM attendance by juniors’ parents.
- Encourage female members of the club to become members of the Committee.
- Delegate particular responsibilities to members of the Committee and to other players and supporters where appropriate.
Senior/Junior team supporters
- Consider options to encourage junior players and families to attend Thursday nights and Saturdays.
- Consider options to encourage senior players to attend Juniors training and matches.
Website
- Provide more information on club history on the website.
- Improve the layout of the club website (not the overall design, that’s great, just the organisation of content).
